Ancient Greek Pegasus (or Pegasos) ancient coins were minted in Corinth Greece and many of her colonies, during the time period of 405 to 307 BC. The coin features the mythical winged horse Pegasus on one side and the Greek goddess Athena, wearing a Corinthian helmet, on the other. In Greek mythology, Pegasus, son of Poseidon, was born from the neck of Medusa when she was killed by the hero Perseus. Pegasus became the mount of Bellerophon, who while mounted on Pegasus, defeated the tribes of Solymia and the Amazons. Athena, the daughter Zeus, is best known as the goddess of war, defending the native lands against all enemies. Certificates of Authenticity accompany all Ancient Greek coins.
