Milled Bust Coins
Lima Mint

Milled bust coins "bust or portrait dollars" were minted at the Lima mint from 1772 until 1824, when Simon Bolivar secured Peru's independence from Spain.  The Spanish colonial bust dollar was the last coin type manufactured in New World under Spain's rule; it circulated throughout the world, even serving as legal currency in the United States until 1857.   Lima coins are easily identified by their mintmark, a monogrammed LIMAE resembling the co-joined letters ME.

A Certificate of Authenticity will be supplied only on request.
